Frosty the snowman
Yesterday, it snowed all day. We don't have many inches left to show for it but it's so cold that all the tree branches frosted over. The world turns into a winter wonderland when that happens and I just want to bundle up and stare at it all day! It's so hard to work during the holiday season.
I came in a couple Saturdays ago to put up all the decorations in the office that I did last year. They're cute and get everyone in the holiday spirit. Garland over each door, fake Christmas presents on the walls, some even wrapped in cow material! We're just waiting to see if the owner wants a big real tree like last year. It was kind of messy but the scent and mood it sets are worth it. I've been passing out the Christmas hams to employees today and accidentally left mine in the car all night! Oops! Good thing it was like a freezer out there! My sister suggested I move all of my frozen goods out there!
We are going to Missoula for Christmas to spend time with friends and family. Josh's brother will be up from GA so we'll get to visit with them which is kind of rare. About as rare as I see my family! All I can think about is his mom's almond roca. She seriously needs to sell the stuff! I asked for the recipe but there's just something special when you don't have to make it. I whipped up some oatmeal cookies and fudge this weekend. If they last, we'll take them up with us. Josh had to finish making the fudge though because by the time the two hour cooking process was over and I stirred as much as I could, I was going to drop dead! The great guy also fixed some dinner...patty melts which were excellent!
Lately all I want are foods that are bad for me. I've resisted mostly because I'm saving for our little vacation over Christmas. I am reserving that time to eat whatever I wanted. Finally have felt energetic enough to get back in the gym on a nightly basis and can actually keep the house clean on a day to day basis instead of every Saturday, lol. Got all the presents wrapped and they're set to mail today so things are all falling into place and ten more days until Missoula...woohoo!

Randomness at its finest
Hello all, I have made my return to the land of the blog. I hope that you all enjoyed my previous installment, because that is all you are going to get. HA HA HA!...
Moving on, here in the land potatoes and methane gas things are going peachy. I would use swimmingly, because well I use swimmingly too much I have been told. Of course what do my students know anyway.
A few things to note, I haven't had a haircut since before school started and i am starting to grow a mullet, well not really. I am not sure that I could pull off a mullet unless I permed my hair and well I really don't want to harken back to 4th grade when my hair looked like a head of cauliflower. Though if I did get a mullet, I would definately fit in with the white population down here.
Thanksgiving was great, ate some great food, and watched some football. The stuffing and turkey was absolutely incredible, I feel lucky that I married such a great cook. I was responsible of helping construct an apple crisp, that was apple and cinnamon goodness. Mixed with some Tillamook old fashioned ice cream, nummy, nummy in my tummy.
For those who really care, I closed out my career on 2007 NCAA football by winning two consecutive national championships and winning back-to-back Heismans. I threw for over 3,000 yards, ran for 1,500 and had 63 touchdowns in my last season. I was inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame. My picture is right next to Michael Jordan. Rather than go on to the pros, I am now the coach at Boise State University. I will take pleasure in waxing the University of Idaho 63-0 every year. Our kid, when born will become older than I.
Chelsey is become less freaked out about pregnant bellies, which is encouraging, because if you hadn't figured it out yet, she is pregnant. No that isn't a beer gut, though I am quite convinced that some of the population here would have no qualms about drinking copious amounts of alcohol goodness while pregnant. I rub the belly, much like people rub buddha for good luck. I am not sure why I need luck, but it has become more about habit. Rub the belly before going to work, rub the belly before eating, rub the belly before watching tv. I didn't rub the belly on Saturday, maybe that is why the Grizzlies lost.
Anyway, I probably should finish up the blog for today. You all read, but you don't comment. I see how you are. That or you are speachless about my ability to weave a tale. Or stunned, and thinking to yourself, "Great googly moogly, that boy aint right in the head" while sipping on your moonshine. --Josh

Post Turkey Day
Well, Thanksgiving was great and all the food turned out wonderful and it's going to be even better today for lunch and then dinner again! It's all about the leftovers. Some other good news is that I woke up this morning feeling great! No nausea at all! So excited! I also powered through all of my work and am sitting here at 9:45 done! Hopefully this is the turning point everyone was telling me was coming! Woohoo! I'll have to get a picture of my pouch up here soon too.

Happy Turkey Day!
Well everyone, my favorite holiday is upon us. I hope you are getting as excited as I am about stuffing your faces with stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey and oyster rice stuffing if you're lucky. I'm actually to the point that I can smell things that I'm cooking and not by repulsed so I should thoroughly enjoy preparing for the meal. I'm making dinner for Josh and I and a friend. Josh decided that a 16 lb turkey would be enough to feed all of us...I am eating for two after all. I've also decided to skip stuffing the turkey this year simply because it comes out soggy to me. Josh's request for dessert is apple cobbler so he'll have to let you know how that turns out. The most important thing is that the cheese balls are made and ready to go. That is one of the best things about the holidays...so thanks to Aunt Ellen for sharing that recipe with me a few years back!
Everything with the baby is going swell. I had a check up appointment yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat again. Josh will be able to go to his first appointment with me on the 21st of December so I'm excited for that. I finally had the brains to ask him what time of day would work best and then scheduled the appointment to work with his request. I kept teasing him that he would never get to the doctor's office until I'm in labor and even then I can picture him at a baseball game with his cell phone that he never answers ringing away in the dugout or buzzing with text messages! He would have to have the bus driver make a special trip to get him home! Oh goodness, that would be funny!
I am getting over most of the nausea. Instead of a constant thing it seems to come and go without warning now, which is better than all the time I guess. The other night Josh asked what I wanted for dinner while I was doing some laundry and it must have been the question or the smell of detergent because just like that I tossed my cookies. I was completely not prepared and ended up pulling some muscles I think. Josh ran and hid so as not to hear the sounds. Poor sympathy puker that he is.
We're going to skim the ads tomorrow and see if there are any early shopping deals worth the trip into Twin. We have some specific things we're looking for so the hopefully the stores decide to sell those to me for cheaper. I would be willing to be an early bird for such a commitment from them. I would still have to make it back to work too since I just get Thanksgiving off.
Well, I wish you all a splendid holiday and may you each gain 5 pounds!

An Epic Story
Blog, Blog, Blog...
Anyway, one day about a month or more ago....time flies when you are a zygote. I am told now that our baby has ears and, well, that scares me because it probably can hear me trying to make Chewbaca sounds. I found out recently, as of a few days ago, that I am generally not able to make Chewbaca sounds. Though I have been told that I do a very terrible Sean Connery impression. "Ryan, some shings in here don't react well to bulletchs..."
As if you haven't noticed, I am not able to keep track of my thoughts, even in a blog. There was a fight today at school and a kid got shanked... with a trident...well not really, turns out he just had his head beat into a lunch table.
Moving on, so my wife goes to the doctor, we all assume to get another round of fertility related stuff done. I am at this point slightly ambivilent, I resolved myself that this would be a long and hard road. So I talk to my wife and she tells me that she got the stuff for pills again, took a scan of her belly...(get in my belly...) and things seemed to be okay.
So I go to practice, scream and yell at some freshman. When all else fails, take out your frustrations on ambivelent Freshman. That is fun. I come home and chels says that she had a rough day and all she wanted was cake. I am always in the mood for cake. You know what I like? Parfaits. So of course I would be more than happy to sit down and chomp on a cake for a week or two. Just as happy as I would be munching on a whole wheel of cheese. I am told Ron Burgandy would find that impressive. So I go to the refrig to grab the carrot cake. I open it up, and look at the cake...and my first thought was..."Why would she put a negative response birth control test in a perfectly good carrot cake." Then I read it, and then remained speechless for the next 5 minutes or so. I frankly was stunned. Something that I truly geniunely didn't expect. Sort of like the Arizona Cardinals winning the super bowl. I surely don't expect it, but if they do win that would be the best thing since sliced bread. Speaking of sliced bread, I love banana bread. Wouldn't mind having a bread maker in the house. So to end this conversation: The moral of the story is: Having a kid is the best thing since sliced bread. And it seemed just as likely as the Arizona Cardinals winning the super bowl. Which interestingly enough makes it all the more enjoyable.
Cause if it were supposed to be easy it would have happened just like all my high school senior girls who got pregnant after prom last year...he he... Some people say, it just takes once,...and I am like no kidding...
Anway, I better be using my post school hours more wisely. Then again do I really use my in school hours all the wisely? You be the judge of that... I am going to go home and try to win the heisman as the QB at the University of North Carolina. Last night I threw for 300 yards and ran for another 100 in a 42-21 demoloshing of the Miami Hurricanes. Not that you care, but I have been told that I have the skills to be an all pro for years to come. I will keep you all updated on the progress when I make it to the pro's. That is in Madden 08. Also please feel free to donate to the "Josh really wants a PS3 campaign" Or in other words...Another reason to stay up late when to take care of the baby while Chelsey sleeps. What do you think i was going to do school work?
Enjoy. Keep it real, and I will talk to you all on the flip side...-Josh

Maui Fish Tacos
Last night we went out for Josh's birthday. When my oder came, my fish tacos were missing the fish. They took the plate back and served it once again, this time with fish. Only problem was, as soon as I smelled the fish, I gagged and couldn't eat it. Crazy! Happy Halloween everyone!

Getting the news
Well, as of tomorrow, Halloween, I will be 12 weeks along. I'm getting real excited about actually seeing my belly grow! I'm also excited about the prospect of not feeling like I'm going to throw up all of the time. But, this post is about the beginning.
As I wrote before, I had trouble becoming pregnant. We started trying in April/May of 2006. We figured something was up in November when we'd had quite a few negative pregnancy tests and nothing else to show for it. I went to visit a doctor here in Jerome and left the appointment frustrated. I switched doctors and come January of 2007, I was on a regimen of pills to try to get certain systems working how they were suppose to. Josh liked to call it 'jump starting my ovaries'. I was also losing weight for my own reasons when the Physician's Assistant I was seeing, Mindy, encouraged me to continue. I had no idea that being overweight caused problems when trying to conceive.
As I'm sure many people know, when you are on medicine for fertility, it's ten days of this, followed by some of this, and take this other thing twice a day. It can get frustrating for someone who usually resists taking medicine of any sort! And those Basal Body Temperature charts are something else! There were tests upon tests that continued to show no results. The only great thing was that I did drop fifty pounds (Josh lost a lot too) and besides not getting pregnant, I felt fantastic.
Well, back on September 11, (wow, what a date) I went to a doctors appt. It was time to do an ultrasound to check for cysts in my ovaries and begin a new round of a different medication. I did the ultrasound first and the technician noted that I had a sac of fluid, most likely from a ruptured cyst, and it was still draining. A doctor came in to discuss the results and said that it was nothing to worry about, it happens all the time without woman knowing, and that I would come back in 6 weeks to have another ultrasound to be sure that everything was still okay. On top of that there was no sign of PCOS, which they were concerned about.
I went over to meet with Mindy for my actual appointment. I told her everything okay. One of the medicines made me tired but I could deal with it. We discussed the fact that the next round of treatment increased your chances of multiples, but Josh and I really didn't mind...at least I didn't. ;) As I was getting ready to leave, I had to do a standard pregnancy test before I could start one of the medications. I waited for another girl to finish using the restroom and then went in to take care of business.
Mindy's nurse went in and I stood in the hallway while we made sure we weren't forgetting anything. The nurse called from the bathroom for Mindy to join her in the bathroom. Then I heard them both laughing! My first thought was I must have peed on something! She came out, pointed at me and said get back in that room. We walked back in and I asked was wrong and she told me there was a complete change of plans...I was pregnant! I teared up, as did she, and bent over and said something like I'm going to be sick. She said that she had goosebumps.
There had been signs but nothing I though of as significant. I had mentioned to Josh that I needed a new bra throughout the week because it hurt to walk down the stairs and to work out. LOL, I guess I know better now!
Well, everything is on track now. I have been on Progesterone to help raise my levels in order to maintain the pregnancy, but that is done with next Monday. I'm so excited and keep getting more so everyday! I'm forever thankful to my Doc, Mindy Nelsen and Linda and Holly Giltner and Sandy and Tanni. They were huge supporters. Linda even called it that day before my appointment, saying that I would be pregnant! I was such a doubter!
Hopefully Josh will get on here and tell you how I let him know!

In the beginning...

Well, for a year and a half Josh and I tried to get pregnant without success. Through some pretty daunting Dr.'s appointments and tests (Josh was more upset about his one then my 30 or so) and a weight loss of 50 lbs, we got the news we'd been waiting for, we were pregnant! We're both so excited! I've read in all the expecting parents books that I should keep a journal and figured, hey, why not let everyone take a peek! So, here it is, a little glimpse of all the going ons of the Jerome, ID Clixbys!
This will get us started but I'll be back in a bit to write a note about how I found out I was pregnant...it's pretty cute! I'll also try to get Josh on here to post some stuff!
